2020 Events affected by COVID-19 (Updated on 09-11-20)

To the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME community –

As we continue to monitor developments related to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have closely evaluated and heeded the recommendations of government health authorities and experts. We take seriously our role in contributing to the overall health and safety of our colleagues, Tournament Store owners and staff, and the entire Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG fan base. Following the recent large increase in the number of cases of COVD-19, we believe it is in the best interests of our community, and the community at large, to suspend all physical forms of our Organised Play effective immediately for the regions outlined below. Jointly, we share a responsibility to prevent community spread of this virus by practicing social distancing and we appreciate everyone’s cooperation during this time of uncertainty.

Regions:

  • Africa
  • Europe
  • Middle East

KDE-E has suspended the approval of all Sanctioned events that take place after November 6th.

We wish to provide Duelists with a way to continue to enjoy the upcoming programs, such as Yu-Gi-Oh! Day. These programs will be available via “Remote Duel” play. Further information will be available in the Frequently Asked Questions section of the promotion’s pages. Prizing for these programs should be distributed in a way that is safe for Duelists to receive without putting them at risk, and in accordance with any local laws in place.

Further information about official recommendations from the European Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (ECDC), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and World Health Organization (WHO) may be referenced here:

As circumstances evolve, we will continue to communicate with you often and will provide any new information, including updates on the status of future events, as it becomes available. Please continue to visit our official Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG website and official social media channels on Twitter and Facebook for the latest news and updates:

Additionally, those with non-press-related inquiries regarding event cancellations and updates on future events are encouraged to contact your local Organised Play Distributor for updates. We anticipate a higher-than-average volume of messages over these next several weeks, so we ask for your understanding during this time.

Our thoughts are with all of those, both directly and indirectly, affected by this pandemic. We also recognise that local businesses, including our Official Tournament Stores, will feel the impacts of these decisions and are grateful for their commitment to the safety of our community. We thank the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG community for their patience and understanding during this time.
