Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Remote Duel Extravaganza Information (Saturday, January 23rd, 2021)

Q: What happens at a Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Remote Duel Extravaganza?

A: At a Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Remote Duel Extravaganza, Duelists will enjoy a variety of official Konami Public Events, such as Win-A-Mats, Extravaganza Win-A-Mat tournaments, Speed Duel tournaments, Structure Deck tournaments, and ATTACK OF THE GIANT CARD!! tournaments that will take place on Saturday January 23rd. On the following day, on Sunday January 24th, Duelists will have the chance to compete in an exclusive Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Remote Duel Extravaganza Main Event that will award exclusive prizes, including invites to the Remote Duel Invitational Qualifier event to take place in the first quarter of 2021!

Q: Where and when is the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Remote Duel Extravaganza Weekend?

A: The Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Remote Duel Extravaganza will be held remotely across the Americas using various Discord platforms based on your region.  For a complete listing of the locations and Discord servers, visit:

Please note that you should participate in the Extravaganza on the Discord Server that is being hosted by an OTS of the country in which you reside. For example, if you reside in Mexico, you are welcome to join the Discord events for Mexico only.  If the country you live in is not hosting the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Remote Duel Extravaganza, you are welcome to participate in any of the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Remote Duel Extravaganza Main Event tournaments held in other countries within your Region (Central or South America), as long as the OTS is willing to ship participation and tournament prizing to that county, and that you are aware that getting your prizing can take longer than expected and might be subject to customs fees. Make sure to check with the OTS prior to registering.

TCG Remote Duel Extravaganza and the number of participants will be capped as listed above, so please make sure to log in to the Discord Server, based on your country of residence by 10:00AM on Saturday, January 23rd and register for your favorite event!

The ATTACK OF THE GIANT CARD!! will start as soon as the 32 seats are filled or by 3:00PM, whichever is earlier.

Q: How long will each Remote Duel Match last?

A: Each Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME Remote Duel Match will be a best 2-out-of-3 Duel with a 50-minute time limit.

Each Yu-Gi-Oh! Speed Duel Remote Duel Match will be a best 2-out-of-3 Duel with a 40-minute time limit.

Each Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links Remote Duel Match will be a best 3-out-of-5 Duel with a 45-minute time limit.

Q: What is a Swiss Round Tournament?

A: Players are paired off based on each player’s win/loss record. Players are not eliminated when they lose a match during Swiss tournaments – instead, they will continue to be paired against players with similar records for all remaining rounds of the event.

Q: What is a Single-Elimination Tournament?

A: Half of the tournament is eliminated after each round – the losing player is out of the tournament, while the winner goes on to the next round. This continues until only one player remains, which is then declared the winner.

Q: What is Speed Duel?

A: Speed Duel is a fast-paced way to play the physical card game. Following on the success of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links Mobile app, Speed Duel allows players to bring that style of play to the table. Whether you are new to the game or a long-time fan, players will be able to enjoy this version of Yu-Gi-Oh! Speed Duel using fewer cards and a smaller playing field to enjoy quick matches that are focused on characters from the show and uses Skill Cards to represent those Character’s effects on their matches. Whether you are a fan of the show, the mobile app, or the physical card game, Speed Duel can be enjoyed by experienced players and those new to the hobby!

Q: What are rules for Speed Duel Constructed Tournaments?

A: Duelists can bring their own Speed Duel Deck and play in a Constructed Speed Duel event. Similar to above:

• Each Duelist begins the game with 4000 Life Points.
• Each Duelist begins the game with four (4) cards as their starting hand.
• Skill Card effects do not use the chain.
• Each Duelist has three (3) Main Monster Zones, three (3) Spell & Trap Zones, and one (1) Field Zone.
• The Duelist going first does not draw a card on their opening turn.
• The hand size limit is six (6) cards.
• Each Duelist may have an active Field Spell Card.

To build your own Constructed Speed Duel Deck, you will need to follow these requirements before entering an event.

• Only cards with a Speed Duel Logo can be used in your Deck.
• Your Deck includes the Main Deck and may include a Side Deck and/or Extra Deck.
• You may not have more than three (3) copies of any card included in your Main Deck, Side Deck, and Extra Deck combined.
• Your Main Deck must have a minimum of 20 cards, and a maximum of 30 cards (cards in the Side and Extra Decks do not count towards this total).
• In a Constructed tournament, you may use a Side Deck consisting of 0 to 6 cards in addition to your Main Deck. Skill Cards can be included in your Side Deck.
• If you choose not to use a Skill Card during the first Duel of a Match and you have Skill Cards in your Side Deck, you may use a Skill Card from the Side Deck as part of the Side Deck process for Game 2 or Game 3.
• If you choose to use a Skill Card during the first Duel of a Match, you may opt not to use a Skill Card for subsequent Duels in the Match.
• In a Constructed Tournament, you may use an Extra Deck consisting of 0 to 6 Extra Deck Monsters.

Q: What are the rules for a Structure Deck Tournament?

A:

• Duelists registering for this event will need to already own an intact copy of the latest Structure Deck: Spirit Charmers in order to participate in the Tournament(s).
• Structure Deck: Spirit Charmers comes with one (1) random additional copy of one of the “Familiar – Possessed” Monster Cards with alternate art. During a Structure Deck tournament, you must play using the exact card list indicated on the back of the box. However, you may substitute the alternate art versions of the “Familiar-Possessed” monsters for the standard art versions if you so desire.

Q: What are the Rules for Duel Links Tournaments?

A: This event allows you to bring your device and connect to others remotely for a Duel Links format, Single-Elimination event. Test your Deck builds in a Duel using the latest Duel Links Forbidden and Limited restrictions to compete for Duel Links Prize Pins!

• Rounds will be played best of five (5) Duels.
• Rounds will be 45 minutes long.

Between each Duel, you may use your Side Deck to alter your Deck for the next Duel.

• Your Side Deck is every card in your collection.
• Any changes can be made to the Deck between Duels of a Match, including the following:
• Adding Cards
• Subtracting Cards
• Changing Legendary Duelist
• Changing Character Skill
• The Deck must be legal for play (appropriate number of cards in the Main and Side Deck, complies with the Forbidden and Limited list available within the Duel Links app)
• If the Duelist believes there is an error or other issue with their Deck, they should contact a Judge immediately.
• Failure to do this by the 5-minute mark may result in appropriate penalties.
• Duelists are not required to revert their Deck back to its original Deck prior to the start of each Match. Players must have a Duel Links legal-for-play Deck prior to each played Game/Match.

In case of a disconnect, win/loss will be determined by the result given in-game.  If the app crashes, or both Duelists disconnect simultaneously and a win is not decided, the Duelists will restart that Duel using the same Decks.  Side Decking will not be allowed for that specific Duel.

Instructions on how the competitors can connect to the in-game Tournament Room will be provided once you are seated for the events.

Duelists will need to have the latest Duel Links app (v.5.3.0) installed on their device and reached Stage 4 or higher to participate in Tournaments.

Q: What is the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Remote Duel Extravaganza Main Event?

A: The Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Remote Duel Extravaganza Main Event is a large tournament that will occur across various countries in the Americas, where each participating country will have its own Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Remote Duel Extravaganza Main Event (large countries like Mexico and Brazil will host several events*). This event will give players the chance to compete for exclusive prizes, including invites to the Remote Duel Invitational Qualifier event to take place in the first quarter of 2021!

*Duelists are only allowed to participate in one (1) Remote Duel Extravaganza Sunday Main Event during the weekend. Once you participated in a specific Remote Duel Extravaganza Sunday Main Event during that weekend, you are not allowed to participate in any other. Duelists who participate in multiple Remote Duel Extravaganza Sunday Main Events during the same weekend may be disqualified and risk suspension from KDE Organized Play.

Q: When and where is the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Remote Duel Extravaganza Main Event going to take place?

A: The Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Remote Duel Extravaganza Main Event will take place simultaneously on Sunday, January 24th across different countries in the Americas. All events will start at 10:00 AM local time.

Q: When do I turn in my Deck list for the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Remote Duel Extravaganza Main Event?

A: At the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Remote Duel Extravaganza Main Event we will be collecting your Deck List at registration.  This means that you must have a completed Deck List via Neuron and ready to hand in a screenshot of your Deck List when you register for the Main Event.  There will be one exception to this. Once a Deck List has been submitted it can no longer be changed.

Q: When can I register for the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Remote Duel Extravaganza Main Event?

A:  Registration to the Sunday Main Event will start on Sunday Jan 24th at 8AM local time, registration will close at 9:30AM local time and event will start promptly at 10AM. Duelists will also have the chance to pre-register on Saturday Jan 23rd by contacting the TO for the event via Discord from 3PM-7PM local time, Duelists who pre-register and have not won an invite must pay the full entry fee to the Sunday Main Event.  Duelists who have won an invite via one of the Saturday Public Events will receive free entry into the Sunday Main Event and will be placed on the invite list for the tournament automatically by the event staff. Note that being on the invite list DOES NOT automatically register you for the Sunday Main Event tournament. You will still need to follow the above registration process. (Duelists who receive free entry into the tournament will not receive participation packs for entering the Main Event).  Please make sure to inform your TO that you have won free entry into the Sunday Main Event via a Saturday Public Event so that the TO may verify your invite and grant you free entry.

Q: What is the attendance capacity for the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Remote Duel Extravaganza Main Event?

A: Each Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Remote Duel Extravaganza Main Event will have a limit of 256 players. It is advised that you log in early enough into your corresponding Discord Sever to register for the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Remote Duel Extravaganza Main Event so that you can ensure a spot in the event.

Q: How much does it cost to enter the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Remote Duel Extravaganza Main Event?

A: The Main Event is free to Duelists who earned an invite to the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Remote Duel Extravaganza Main Event by winning at least one of the Public Events held on Saturday, January 23rd, 2021 at the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Remote Duel Extravaganza of their country of residence, however, they will not receive any participation booster packs. Invite holders can also choose to receive the two (2) booster packs as long as they pay the entry fee.

The registration fee for Duelists that did not earn an invite is the equivalent of two (2)booster packs in their country. With your entry fee, you will receive three two (2) booster packs.

Please contact your individual Tournament Organizer for details on how to pay your entry fee and secure a spot in your country’s Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Remote Duel Extravaganza Main Event.

Q: What is the format for the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Remote Duel Extravaganza Main Event?

A: Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Remote Duel Extravaganza Main Event tournaments are Constructed events, which means each Duelist must have his or her own Deck in order to compete. Decks must be constructed according to the latest Advanced Format guidelines. (See here for more information: http://www.yugioh-card.com/lat-am/limited/index.html#limited_adv). Q: How many rounds will the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Remote Duel Extravaganza Main Event have?

A: The total number of Duelists will determine the number of rounds that are played.

All Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Remote Duel Extravaganza Main Event tournaments will only play Swiss Rounds, with prizes awarded at the end of the Final Round of Swiss.

Q: What are the prizes for the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Remote Duel Extravaganza Main Event?

A: In addition to the two (2) booster packs each Duelist will receive for entering the tournament, prize distribution will vary based on attendance:

Q: Will I need to complete and turn in a Deck List?

A: Yes. All Duelists participating in a Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Remote Duel Extravaganza Main Event must turn in a completed Deck List in order to participate. Please check with the Tournament Organizer of your country for additional information in regards to the Deck List collection process.

Duelist may also use Neuron to create their Deck List and submit a JPEG / screenshot to the Tournament Organizer.

To use Neuron:
Select and view your Deck in the application, then scroll down to the “Save List” button. Clicking this button will create a JPG of your Deck List, which you can send to the event staff via Discord for your event.  Please contact your Tournament Organizer for further details on Deck list submission.

Duelists can also download the official KDE-US Deck List at https://www.yugioh-card.com/en/events/forms/KDE_DeckList.pdf. This is an editable PDF, so you will be able to type the card names in this form, which should help as your Deck List needs to be legible and complete – write the name of each card in full, and write down how many copies you have in your Deck and submit a PDF to the event staff of your finalized Deck List.

Duelists are encouraged to complete their Deck List before the day of the event by using the downloadable KDE-US Deck List and typing out all of the necessary information in the editable fields on the form.

Q: Are there any special rules I need to know for the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Remote Duel Extravaganza Main Event?

A: You can only participate in the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Remote Duel Extravaganza Main Event of the country where you reside, if one is being held in your country.  If your country is not hosting a Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Remote Duel Extravaganza Main Event, you are welcome to participate in any of the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Remote Duel Extravaganza Main Event tournaments held in other countries within your Region (Central or South America), as long as the OTS is willing to ship participation and tournament prizing to that county, and that you are aware that getting your prizing can take longer than expected and might be subject to customs fees. Card Legality

Q: What cards are legal for play?

A: Please check the “Products” page online at https://www.yugioh-card.com/en/products/index.html for the most current legality dates of Yu-Gi-Oh! product releases, prior to preparing your Deck for the event.

For the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Remote Duel Invitational Qualifier, we recommend that Duelists do not include cards with effects that cannot be properly resolved in a Remote Duel Format. The following is a partial list of cards that should not be included in Decks for that reason.

Amazoness Chain Master
Lullaby of Obedience
Gift Exchange
Yu-Jo Friendship
Parasite Paracide
Transmission Gear

If you include these types of cards in your Deck, be aware that their effects cannot be activated. If you attempt to play any of the cards on this list, it will be deemed an illegal activation, and you will receive penalties for a Procedural Error.

Q: Can I use OCG cards (cards printed for use in Japan and other Asian territories) in my Deck?

A: No, cards printed for Asian markets are not legal for play in TCG tournaments, even if you have a translation available.

Q: Can I use foreign language cards in my Deck?

A: You may use foreign-language copies of legal-for-play cards printed for the TCG market, as long as you can show an official translation of the card when asked to do so by an opponent or tournament official. 

If you are using a card that is not in a local language, you must do one of the following:

• Have a local-language version of the card, stored outside of your Deck or Card Case, available to show opponents or tournament officials. For English or Spanish language cards, you are not required to have an official translation (with the exception of Brazil and Trinidad & Tobago, Spanish cards will need English translation).  Portuguese cards do not require a translation for the Brazilian event(s).
• Have an accurate, written version of the most recent card text, stored outside of your Card Case, available to show opponents or tournament officials.
• Use the “Camera Search” function in Neuron to provide an accurate translation of the card.

Q: I want to judge at the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Remote Duel Extravaganza instead of competing as a player – how can I participate?

A: If you’re interested in judging at a Tier 2 or higher event, please visit http://www.yugioh-card.com/en/judges/index.html, for information about how to join the Konami Judge Program.

All potential judges must pass the online Rulings Comprehension Level 1 test, and then complete an online application to join the Judge Program.

Q: Can I get a CARD GAME ID number at the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Remote Duel Extravaganza or will I need to have one before I attempt to register to play at one of the tournaments?

A: If you previously had a COSSY ID, that same number will carry over as your CARD GAME ID. You will still need to register online at https://cardgame-network.konami.net/.

If you do not remember your previous 10-digit ID, you should email the Tournament Organizer at least five (5) days prior to the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Remote Duel Extravaganza weekend to obtain your correct ID. Duelists should avoid acquiring new CARD GAME IDs if the previous ID can be found.

If you have never signed up for a CARD GAME ID number, you can get one by registering online at https://cardgame-network.konami.net/.

Q: Will there be coverage at any of the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Remote Duel Extravaganza events?
